Deciding to continue with an unplanned pregnancy can be a huge decision to make. It is important to talk this through with someone you trust. You should think about who you can depend on during pregnancy and who can help you with the baby- whether this might be the baby’s Father, a partner, a family member, carer or an agency.
It is important that if you decide to continue with a pregnancy to get the right healthcare and advice, (for example you should start taking folic acid and stop drinking alcohol and smoking). It is best to visit your GP as soon as possible, who will refer you for antenatal care. Alternatively you can contact ‘Direct to Midwife' on 0800 121 4400. Your midwife will support you right through your pregnancy and for a number of days afterwards. They will give you information on antenatal care, classes and scans. Go to our Links Page and check out the Tommy’s link, for lots of useful information.
